Our History

A Legacy of Service

Capital Avionics was founded in 1978 by Al Ingle, carrying on a tradition of pioneering aviation established by his grandfather, Charles A. Lorber. Lorber was hired by Pan American Airways shortly after its’ founding and went on to become one of only four “Horsemen of the Heavens”, as a Captain of the ocean crossing Clippers. He flew many of these first revenue flights, including the first commercial flight with passengers from New York’s La Guardia Marine Terminal to Spain.

Additionally, Donna Ingle’s Uncle, Frederick Lawrence Meyer, was a P51 fighter pilot in the European theatre in World War II.

Two generations later, Capital Avionics was established to provide superior avionics support.  It founded its core philosophy, techniques, and standards from previous experiences which include the following:

  • Manufacturing state of the art research equipment such as Beam Current Integrators (for Van deGraff Accelerators)(Tomlinson 2000AEC), high end low noise audio amplifiers (for music aficionados)(Tomlinson1002), and Pulsed Nuclear Magnetic Resonance equipment (or PNMR), fore runner to the MRI medical equipment of today,
  • Employment at several General Aviation Fixed Based Operators with in-house avionics support,
  • Employment with Wien Air Alaska, a Part 121 airline, performing depot level repairs and aircraft maintenance services.

Today, the company has expanded to provide all levels of avionics support in a vertically integrated format. We exist to solve the difficult problems that you may face.
